Trust.
It’s one of those character traits that we never fully understand the value until it has been broken. It’s also a trait that when we fully understand the value, it will lead us to live a bold and confident life.
Growing up, I’ve always heard my grandmother say: “Trust God, Trust God.” Intellectually I understood what she meant, but it’s only through some tough experiences that I now have a deeper understanding of what that really means. The dictionary defines trust as a “firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.” I’ve learned that with time, experience and consistency, trust grows and that’s how you begin to really understand the value.
In quiet reflection I thought to myself: Has God been reliable? Has God been honest? Has God been consistent? Has God been able? I can honestly say yes to all these questions. Not only have I personally experienced it; but in my Grandmother’s 93 years of life on this earth, even in the most trying of times, she experienced it over and over again and that’s why she would confidently say: “Trust God.” She lived a life that was bold, a life that was unwavering, a life that was confident and a life that was courageous. I’m now realizing that she was able to live that way because she genuinely and earnestly trusted God. With every experience and every year of life, He never failed her and she knew He always had her back.
Proverbs says: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to thine own understanding; in all thy ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.”
So I ask you today, do you trust God? Do you REALLY trust Him? Do you believe He has your back? What is preventing you from truly trusting Him?
Similar to me, you’ll have to have your own experience, but I encourage you to trust Him and when He has proven Himself to you, go forward and live boldly and confidently knowing that He will always have your back!! It’s best to put your unknown future in the hands of an all knowing God!
